JCC: The War of Three Kings (1066)

Two kings; Harald Sigurdsson and William Of Normandy have had desire for England. Vikings from Norway, Normans, from Normandy and the protector of England was the House of Wessex which was being ruled by Harold Godwinson.

Harald Sigurdsson, also known as Harald of Norway and given the epithet Hardrada in the sagas.Harald Hardrada(The King Of Norway)believed that he was the rightful heir to the English throne because he was a descendant of King Canute of England. He claimed his family was promised it could rule England. His claim was also supported by Harold Godwinson's brother, Tostig, who had fled England.

Harold Godwinson was the King Of England. Godwinson was the most powerful noble in England. He was not a blood relative of King Edward but he was heavily supported by the other nobles in England. Harold Godwinson had been the leader of Edward the Confessor's army and he was experienced in government. Due to these reasons,He became The King Of England in 6 January 1066.

Born around 1028, William was the illegitimate son of Duke Robert I of Normandy, and Herleve (also known as Arlette), daughter of a tanner in Falaise. Known as 'William the Bastard' to his contemporaries, his illegitimacy shaped his career when he was young. On his father's death in 1035, William was recognised by his family as the heir - an exception to the general rule that illegitimacy barred succession. His great uncle looked after the Duchy until 1037, and his overlord, King Henry I of France, knighted him at the age of 15.
